I’ve followed your guide to do a fresh install of Yosemite w/out issue. Well, a few hiccups along the way. But, just from me trying to figure out how Clover works coming from Chameleon. My question is in regards to the DMG and the SSDT.aml that you provide. I’ve had this build for about six months now, and I’ve always used a SSDT generated from Piker-Alpha’s ssdtprgen script. Along w/ the proper edits to boot.plist when I was using Chameleon, I could obtain proper CPU PM.
Since I’m booting UEFI, what are the benefits and purpose of using your SSDT? Is a SSDT-1 generated from ssdtPRGen.sh also needed for CPU PM? I apologize for my ignorance. I try to read lots of different sites/forums and most say a SSDT is not needed for my components. So just trying to understand the reasoning for you providing one w/ this board’s DMG. Thanks!
Uegi has notjing to do with a motherboards apci tables. They still need to be patched. Stop brliving in lies from another site. You dont need to generate a ssdt-1 for your board. Works oob for power managment so dont mess with it.
Doesn’t the SSDT generated from ssdtPRGEN.sh patch the ACPI tables as well? What does your SSDT.aml do differently?
No. Mine fixes the boards acpi tables. Again. Do mot generate a ssdt-1 as its not needed for your board hence why its not on rhe dmg.
Please review the acpi spec for more information of what a ssdt is. Read the full spec and you will see that your mindset of what a ssdt is is very far off from what it actualy is.
SSDTs can do a lot of different things. Typically the ones that are part of the bios control CPU power management, sata, sometimes gpu, and any number of different things. SSDTPRGen is only meant to replace the CpuPm SSDT, which is not necessary with your board. RampageDev’s SSDT serves a completely different purpose, which is to inject information about devices with _DSM methods – something you would normally do by editing a DSDT. The SSDT in the DMG serves the same purpose except that you don’t have to redo a bunch of edits every time you update your BIOS.
Any thoughts on why a GA-Z97X-UD7 TH (i7-4790K, 32gb, SSD, 2xGTX970) would immediately fail boot during initial install with this error:
OsxAptioFixDrv: Starting override for .IABootFiles\boot.efi

I’m following your 10.10 install instructions… Using the Haswell.DMG config/kext and ssdt for the board. (With addition of “Generic'” kext offered via the install instructions.)
boot flags: kext-dev-mode=1
I’ve added the additional boot flags because gtx970: -v nv_disable=1 GraphicsEnabler=No

Your problem looks like it is caused by the “OsxAptioFixDrv-64.efi” Clover driver, which is needed for some AMI based boards (but not all!) . So you can try to disable this driver if it is enabled, or use the simpler “OsxLowMemDriveFix” as an alternative, but NOT BOTH at the same time. Also check your BIOS version.
Aptio driver works great for that board. I do know that one of my lan cards will beeaknit so its something hardware he has installed.
I’ve tried wtih OSXLowMemDriveFix and had similar issues. Haven’t tried it without OsxAptio. May give that a try. But I’m thinking it may be some random BIOS setting that I missed somewhere along the way, but it all looks ok.
Quick note as to hardware. The only thing I have in it are two GTX970 no add-in nic/bt/wifi
I have also tried the OsxAptioFix2Drv that someone has been working on and got a similar error. Still researching…
did you try slide=0? I think it’s on by default in the latest version of Clover, but I would still try it.
Is there any significant compatibility difference between Nvidia GTX 680 and 780? I am aware that there is a modest performance difference. I was just wondering if a 680 would work.

Another question regarding a past article you wrote regarding AGPM.kext editing. Again my specs are GA-Z87X-UD5H, 4770K, and GTX 760. Since I’m using your DMG, would I gain any benefit of following this guide for my video card? Obviously since I’m using the iMac 14,2 system def, I’d make my edits under that board ID. I did this in Mavericks when I was using Chameleon as a boot loader, and not totally sure there was any tangible benefit.
Based on your experience and testing after posting this article, would there be any benefit to doing this now? I used to see GPU sensor info in HWMonitor, but no longer do after a fresh Yosemite/Clover install. Thanks!
I still dont nbow what ecery value does with the newer smbios so edit and test.
can I use a GTX 980 to install Yosemite, or would I need to use another GPU to install the OS, and once booted install the nVidia’s web drivers and then swap the GPUs?

Did the Myhack install with 10.8.5. Myhack installed great. but I cant get it to boot into mac. tried all the boot flags you provided. When I try the -v method, after about 6 sec it goes to a black screen. Can you think of anything that I can do?

I need mountain Lion because its a Pro Audio Computer and the software I use can’t go above Mountain Lion or I loose a lot of my plugins that I purchased. I also tried another Graphics card, EVGA 01G-P3-1303-KR GeForce 8400 GS 1GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0. Still same problem. Any Advice?
Your using horid graphic cards. You eill have to buy a good gpu and not a cheap one.
Thank you for your help. I gotta try to get this to work. I also have a old install from my previous hackintosh with ML. HDD works on my old Hackintosh but when I try to boot it on my new build it does not boot and can’t do the -v. Do you think its because of a DSDT? Maybe I can install that HDD back into my old hackintosh and then add what i need to make it work on the new build?

This may or may not have a fix, but I am using a R7870 card from XFX in a 3,1 tower and it works fine, short of the lack of the boot screen & boot select screen. It isn’t a “hackintosh” so quite a few of the fixes and workarounds i’ve found are for non-standard installations. Anything I can do with a standard installation to make it play nice?
As in the Boot Screen?
Sorry so long to respond, forgot about my question. Yes, the boot screen does not display. Thus if I wanted to have a dual-boot and load into another OS or use the diagnostics outside of the OS, I cannot do so. The card works quite fine once loaded into OS. For what it’s worth, it is running 10.9.5 w/ 16gb RAM if that makes any difference to the situation.

I successfully install Yosemithe thanks to your ssdt and clover and all is working fine except two things:
1. OSX switches the retail Nvidia drivers always to the native OSX with each boot (nvd_drv is on and inject intel is in config.plist too). I can switch it manually every time and it works until the next boot. How can I do that it is always on retail drivers?
2. I have an USB Sound device (Creative Sound Blaster Omni 5.1) and it works fine with native drivers and with official drivers too, but I have to reconnect it every boot to my USB because since the system is booted the sound is crackling. After I reconnect it manually all is working fine until the next boot (Port is USB2 but I tried with USB3 too).

Sorry I didn’t unterstand what do you mean with “Not oart of the board”. Is here really nothing I can do? I know that this soundcard works perfect with real macs and this usb problem don’t happens there. But it happens to me, maybe here can be some kind of trick or fix for something.
Use onboard audio. Not part of the board so has nothing to do with my files.
Do you have to do a clean install from 10.9 to 10.10 or can you use the App Store utility and patch the drivers?
If you are using Chameleon yes. For Clover no.

Kinda pulling my hair out.. Trying to install 10.9.2 on p9x79 pro, 3930k, gt610.. Installation goes fine as per DMG. It will boot from clover USB installer with flags, -f cpus=1 npci=0x2000 and work fine.
As soon as I boot from chameleon on HD with same flags it crashes with frozen mouse after around 3 mins. Have copied extra folder and installed recommended kexts..any help in tracing issue would be amazing. Have reinstalled 7 times.

Hi, I tried clover but only got clover GUI when booting. No option to boot into any os. Mavericks didn’t show up..tried replacing with HFSplus , still same..

10.10 won’t be supported by me for some time. You don’t NEED 10.10. You want 10.10 so use 10.9.5 for the time being.
Late to this party–any hope of getting turbo to work on ASUS X99 boards before Apple adds complete power management?
I am fine with just locking to the highest all-core multiplier, just do not want to be forced to BCLK overclock just to get stock performance. (Eyeing an E5-2697 V3 =/)

you may have already covered this, I did your BT kext edit, When i check to enable wake with bluetooth, it never goes to sleep. It sleeps fine with bluetooth not connected however. I am using an older db120 Broadcom 2045 bluetooth module. on an GA H55 USB3 Yosemite, Clover boot loader.
Some dongles may still have issues.
I was looking at an R9 285 based graphics card. After booting the screen had a flicker that would only go away if you unplugged and then re-plugged the display cable. Although even though the flicker was present the card had full acceleration. Is this a frame buffer editing issue? maybe some of the connector information may not be quite right?

I decoded all my VBios info. Is there an easy way to tell what Frame Buffer I am or should be using for a Tonga GPU?
If anyone else is looking for info on this it turns out this is a motherboard UEFI/graphics card issue. Card works fine in another board. Also, someone else also using a Sapphire card experienced a similar issue. Doesn’t sound like there is a simple fix.
Update the GPU BIOS. Email them about it.
Hey ! Thanks for everything man ! I did a build on X79 and planning to upgrade to X99. Im sure there will be no issues. but i upgraded to a r9 290x and the OS still works but there is a terrible amout of weirdness happening on the display, now that im going back to a hack with my X99 , is there a 290x patch or dsdt or whatever it is called for OSX yosemite ?
