This system is used for Thunderbolt testing. I use Clover Bootloader on this system and use UEFI for both Mac and Windows. Currently I have been able to enable Thunderbolt hotswaping on a single Thunderbolt port however not both ports.

I have the same motherboard and cpu. I’m trying to get thunderbolt working also. I’ve disabled it altogether for now, to have a running edit system. How have you gotten at least one to work.

  2. Ervin says:

i currently have this board, what did you have to do in order to get the thunderbolt to work?

  3. Paul says:

Can you tell us your bios settings for thunderbolt, is it just the legacy option that you changed? Also did you modify any kexts or anything in osx? thanks

  4. Paul says:

Thanks, I’ll keep an eye out for them. Appreciate you testing this board out. Really hope you can get quick boots with tb enabled.

You are using the on board gpu intel 4600 and thunderbolt? I have used the legacy and disabled the video in order to not boot is safe mode. ot shows no thunderbolt in about detailed report in 10.9.4 I have a macbook pro and it show thunderbolt in about detailed report with nothing plugged in so I assume by this the thunderbolt kext files are not working correctly with this board. I am interested in video capture and storage using black magic video recorder and drobo tb storage

Hi rampagedev, what’s the status with the ga-z97x-ud7-th? Did you end up getting Thunderbolt and quick booting working together? I read through another thread here on this board but most of the posts were months ago and everything seemed in progress at the time.

I’m looking to build a new hack with a 4790k, and I need it to have at least one working TB port. I saw you mention on the other thread that generally a good Z97 board is the Asus Z97-Pro… is that still what you’d recommend? Any experience with the Asus TB add-in card?

Also, what does the color coding on the folders mean for different boards? Thanks!

  8. Thrillhouse says:

    Sweet, thanks again!

did you install 10.10 on this system yet? do you have a dmg for it? i’m wanting to build a system using this board to run 10.10. thanks for all the work you do!

Suddenly getting OsxAptioFixDrv error out of no where on my Z97X-UD7-TH

    Can not allocate relocation block.

I would think so too, but seriously, that fixed the issue. It would not boot until I disabled the stock system NVidia driver (Asus 780 Ti + Gigabyte GT 740) with nv_disable=1. Once I installed the Web Driver all was well. Perhaps installing the web driver forced a cache rebuild? It has me scratching my head for sure.

Also, on an unrelated question, have you tried using the imac 15,1 smbios info for z97 boards with 4790k’s?

  12. Xerxes2505 says:

I have this same board with a GTX 680, 16GB RAM, 250GB SSD and i7-4790k. When I try to boot into the installer it takes at least 5 minutes to hit the installer and after I get to the install it is fine but then when I try to boot the OS it takes just as long if not longer to boot. Did you run into these issues with this board at all? Any specific flags I should use at all? Any help would be appreciated. I have tried with both Unibeast and Clover and it is the same effect.

  13. OSX10.10 says:

I have the exact same motherboard and configuration but with install of (Edited) and 10.10 it says in apple system report: Thunderbolt: No drivers are loaded.
does this mean that thunderbolt will not work?

  14. Efe says:

i have this board. everything is perfect. Only one Thing: when i put a usb device to the hackintosh sometimes i get a freeze… any USB devices won´t work until i reboot (have to shut down the computer)
    Do have an idea?
