I’ve installed MAC on my Gigabyte GA-X79-UD5 motherboard with your DSDT, it’s marvelous!
Still, I’ve got an issue with my ethernet controller that I can’t figure out…
The thing is, when i install the ethernet driver from Multibeast 5.3.1, the LAN connection works when I reboot (as it should be), but when I start up my computer the next day, my LAN connection is gone. I have to reinstall the kext and reboot to get it working again (you can say that I’ve got a MAC with a short therm memory disorder 😉 ).
Also I’ve installed the newest hnak ethernet driver “AppleIntelE1000e.kext” with Kext Utility and got the same issue.
Do you know a solution for this problem?
    With kind regards.

  3. Tom says:

I’m using the installer from olarila.com to install OS X on my computer, they use the clover bootloader.
To set up my motherboard and (nearly) all features, I’m using the DSDT from this website together with Multibeast. For me, this seems the most convenient solution since I’m not realy skilled in MAC (kinda hoped I would be after installing it a fiew times)…
Is the install / setup possible that I made?

    • aicragleon says:

Set SMcputype in SMBios.plist to 2561. This will get your 8 core xeon recognised, at least with the latest 10.9.2 version I think it is build 13C44.

  5. Tom says:

I’ve reinstalled OSX 10.8.4, installed like described on this website, updated Chimera 2.1.1 with the newest hnak ethernet driver (2.3.2).
The problem is better but not solved.
80% of the time, the ethernet driver is loaded properly on login, 20% of the time it doesn’t.
If i check the device manager when i’ve got no internet access, on the Ethernet controllern, the driver initializes “no” (no PCI-card is fond).
    Otherwise it says “yes”.
Checked my MB BIOS (F12) , all featuerd are Enabled.
Don’t got a clue what could cause this ethernet issue.

I don’t got a myHack.kext in SLE (putted the ethernet kext in in dough), I’ve got no clue what kernel cache is…
    Is this issue solvable?
    With kind regards

    • michael says:

i dont know if you got the prob sorted but i had a problem with my x79 ud5 once, the ethernet stopped working under os-x and would KP every now and then when booting and in win 7 would only transfer at 1 MB/s couldn’t work out what was wrong so i done a reset on the bios and it started working again

  6. Ray says:

Hey there, first off , thanks for a the great support! you have helped me heaps with my setup!

    Here is what i have:
    GA-X79-UD3 mobo
    i7 3930K @4.4ghz
    MSI GTX 670
    16gb ripjaws ram @ 1833mhz

Ive tried to install your DSDT in every which way on my GA-X79-UD3 on bios F8/F9/F11 and none want to boot.
ive resorted to using a DSDT-less boot with sleepenabler and voodooHDA for audio, its semi working, kind of getting a random larsen effect happening with the mic somehow looping into the output, but i would love to get the DSDT working! what can i do that will help?

  7. Tom says:

Update: Ethernet driver doesn’t load if I boot my computer (PCI card issue). After a restart it works.
Also I figured out that KernelCache is enabled…
Could this be something in the MB DSDT?

  8. tuxtek says:

I am running an X79-UD3 v1.1 on F11 with an ATI 6870 and a 6 core i7. I tried using the above DSDT.aml but end up sitting at “using 16384 buffer headers and 10240 cluster IO buffer headers”. If I remove the DSDT, everything boots fine. I didnt see any errors being thrown up to the point it hangs.

Any pointers for debugging this? I am assuming that something in the DSDT needs to be modified, but am not quite sure what that may be.

I’m currently running into some issues with installing Mavericks on my system.

    GA-X79-UD3 F16
    i7-3820
    MSI 680GTX Lightning

I can get to the install screen using your method and even go through the install if I use the following commands: -v -x DSDT=no GraphicsEnabler=No cpus=1 npci=0x2000

I can then reboot, use the USB again with the same flags and go through your process of Extras Folder > Applications. SSDT > Applications. AppleIntelE1000e/FakeSMC with kext helper b7.

I downloaded chameleon and followed the picture. I’m still not able to boot though without the -x flag, and sometimes the -x flag doesn’t work either for safe boot. Any ideas/tips/information I could provide?

    Thanks,
    Zach

Core i7 4930K works on hackintosh?

  20. Chris Bishop says:

The mach_kernel in Unibeast and MyHack sends me to a black screen when using -v, or just a white apple logo screen without -v. The kernel flags suggested in these pages doesn’t fix that. I did find a patched kernel at osx86.net for the 10.8.4 Ivy Bridge-E here:

    http://www.osx86.net/files/file/40-10-8-4-haswell-ivy-bridge-e-lapic-fix-kernel/

This gets me booting, but I still can’t get to the installer.

    MOBO: GA-X79-UP4
    Processor: i7 4960x

The files on the dmg only work once you’re installed and booted in, correct? If so, do you have any suggestions? If not, where do I place these files in the Unibeast/MyHack install disk to get to the install screen?

And thanks for all your hard work for this community!

    hello
I’m currently running into some issues with installing Mavericks on my system.

    x79-up4 F4
    i7 4820k
    ati 6850 video card

I think the cpu is not supported

  22. JaBrd says:

My ga-x79-up4 is version 1.1 … the DMG only has version 1.0.
    I copied the SSDT for v1.0 to /extras but the system wouldn’t boot without -v -f -x

    • JaBrd says:

      BTW CPU is 4930x

    • rampagedev says:

Considering that the version on the folder is the ssdt build number what you said is meaningless. Also the ssdt for all gb boards are the same. That said your issue is unrelated to the ssdt. What Gpu do you have?

      • JaBrd says:

I was using a GeForce 610 but have replaced it with an R9 290 which sort of works — needs to be in Slot 2 to be recognized by motherboard(!) — no QE/CI — needs chameleon in EFI. I’m waiting for better OS X support for this. Obviously it works in my triple boot Win7 setup (2 different 10.9 installs so I can play around).

      • JaBrd says:

I’ve installed the beta of 10.9.2

If I boot with -v -f GraphicsEnabler=Yes, the system boots but doesn’t recognize the R9 290 (AMD Hawaii) and no QE/CI.
If I boot with GraphicsEnabler=No, the boot hangs after :

        init
        probe
        start
        DSMOS has arrived
        [IOBluetoothHCIController][start] — Completed
        _

After this hang, the fans sometimes speed up briefly if I click the mouse or keypad

Note that I put the SSDT.aml into EFI /Extras
        and editited plist to Macpro6,1

      • rampagedev says:

Considering you have a completely unsupported card and working with a SMBIOS that you should not be using other then developers… use Mac Pro 5,1 SMBIOS for now. And try adding the device ID to the AMD drivers.

  23. wanish says:

Hi rampagedev, thanks for SSDT, mavericks works fine with my GA-X79-UP4 (F4 bios), i7 4930K and gigabyte nvidia GTX780.. BUT OS runs really slow, long response times, lazy animations, like 3-5FPS., I tested graphic acceleration by launching screensaver, move in chess game.. everything seems to work, but extremly slow,..I replaced mach_kernel, install VooDooTSCsync.kext and tried setup multibeast once with DSDT-free and now with user DSDT. Im booting with GraphicsEnabler=No cpus=1…. THANKS FOR HELP,)

  24. JaBrd says:

I forgot to mention that I had edited both the:

    AMDRadeonX4000.kext and
AMD7000Controller.kext and added the device ID 0x67b11002 … didn’t make a difference when 5,1 so I also tried 6,1 and tried both GE=yes/no

There is a section in AMDRAdeonX4000 about the Hawaii GPU and a similar device (0x67b01002) but this wasn’t in AMD7000Controller so either I’m still missing something or else need to wait for a new kext for Hawaii.

I realize this is bleeding edge just thought you might have an idea

    Hi, I’m actually trying to install 10.8 on my GA-X79-UP4 F4 Rev:1.1 with a i7 4930K and GTX 670.
I’ve read all the comments and I figured out it should work, but I can’t even get to the installer. I’ve tried -v cpus=1 npci=0×2000 and some other bootflags. I’ve tried the Unibeast and some other ML Installer from Hackintosh Montreal.

Your DMG sounds successsful, but I just can’t get OSX Installed. Any ideas? Thnx a lot!

  28. LarryB says:

I have all the verbose going down. First, there is a batch with bigger character that look like 8 bit. (READ HFS:…) and the a second versbose that look cleaner. Few fast lines after a line that started with NVIDIAGK load… I got a white screen without the apple.
    Considering I have GA-X79-UP4, 4930K and GTX670, I’ve boot with -v cpus=1 npci=0x2000

    Any ideas? Thanks a lot!

  29. LarryB says:

OS X installation done. But I can’t get Chameleon installed.I always get the boot screen as the one we have on the myHack installer. I’ve follow your Chameleon Bootloader guide. didn’t work and simply install via the guide inside the X79 DMG didn’t work too. I’ve tried Clover and I only see the EFI partition. According to the screenshot you gave us in the DMG beside the bootloader, I’ve checked the same things…
    Any ideas?

  30. LarryB says:

Yes I know I can press Enter, but there isn’t any themes? I also don’t have smbios in my Extra Folder, is it related? Thnx for your replies btw!

    • rampagedev says:

Install a Theme if you want one… I do not use one as its just another thing that is cosmetic.

Make a SMBIOS. I provided one on the DMG so not sure how you do not have it installed.

  31. ntpeeter says:

    Hi…
I have succesfully installed OSX Mavericks on GA-X79-UP4 1.1 bios F5, 4930K and GTX650Ti… Thanks for dmg… all works fine but… but I have two problems: First problem: the sound played by the card on the board and the external USB sound card is broken, crackling… Second problem: the system time rush a few seconds to a minute, but only in the system time in the BIOS / UEFI is displayed correctly … maybe my motherboard is damaged?
    Any ideas? Thanks a lot!

    • rampagedev says:

Change play back feq. for the Audio. Bad CMOS battery perhaps for the Time issue…

      • ntpeeter says:

On external USB sound card is only Fp=48kHz… this is native frequency on this card… broken audio is for all media (like video, audio and movie files on disk, streamed video on YT etc.). This motherboard has 5 days it is brand new, clock in uefi working correctly… problem is in system… maybe not working HPET correctly…

      • ntpeeter says:

This system will act as a video editing station and working properly audio / video is the most important …

      • rampagedev says:

Its not hardware related or BIOS related…

  32. CorpNewt says:

Hey ntpeeter, I had the same issue with 2 different usb sound cards, what I ended up doing was a fresh install (reformat, reinstall) and this fixed my issue. I have 10.9.2 13C59 running on 2 different hard drives with almost the exact same setup as you except that instead of the GTX650Ti, I have a GTX760 SC. Before I did a fresh install, I had stuttery audio (at best) where it would constantly crackle, or play for 5 seconds or so, then repeat sections. Now everything is top notch! Thanks for all your hard work rampagedev!!

    • rampagedev says:

If you change the playback freq it can fix that issue…

    • ntpeeter says:

Hey CorpNewt, new installation does not correct the abnormal playback of sound and image, I installed a few times and the same thing. The problem is the motherboard bios and exactly two internal clocks TSC and / or HPET and read by the operating system UNIX, and in some cases Win8. The problem can also occur in the correct indication of system time, see the clock slow down. The problem is also described on page http://phoronix.com/forums/showthread.php?92417-TSC-Problem-on-Gigabyte-GA-X79-UP4- (rev-1-1) so far without a hardware solution from the motherboard manufacturer. In my case, the problem partially solved by installing the 10.8.5 ML with its original mach_kernel + VoodooTSCSync.kext from the pack rampagedev. Perhaps 10.9.2 solves the problem of erroneous reading of internal clocks. Regards

Hey, just updated to 10.9.2 and re-added the applehda.kext built from toledo(I think that’s the name) where you run the command script for 898-92. Used Kext Helper to drop it in and I’m still not receiving any sound. Virtual Audio Device has no controls. Any ideas?

  34. Zach says:

    I will certainly try it!

ga-x79-up4, 4930k, EVGA GTX-780 3GB. Trying several approaches but always end up on a panic on AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.

Using Chameleon boot loader. Installed the GA kexts & Nvidia SSDT in the 1.1 GA folder. I’ve copied over the mach_kernel to the root of the target drive and setup the boot loader per the image.

Any help is much appreciated thanks.

  36. Mr.Blah says:

I won’t be able to test it myself, for I have canceled my order for a Gigabyte MB, but to all the owners of a Gigabyte GA-X79-UD3 I’ve created special BIOSes based on a pre-Ivy bridge supported BIOSes (F14 and just in case F12). These have all the OPROMs updated and – most importantly – contain the latest IVY Microcode.

Please test and report if Power Management gives you a Kernel Panic. Link: http://rghost.ru/53201884

In case you have a different motherboard from Gigabyte – obtain an old BIOS without Ivy-E support and update it with Ivy-E Microcode through UBU tools (Unified Bios Updater).

    Good luck.

    Greetinx!
I succeeded installing 10.9.2 on my Gigabyte X79-UD3 with 4930k and GTX650 with help of your guides. All works after using your X79.dmg for this motherboard. Also I installed the bootloader Chameleon. The strange thing is that I only can boot from USB and choose the MAC from the SSD all works fine but as soon as I remove the USB and I reboot the machineI see the MAC in the Chameleon bootloader and when I press enter there I get an CPU error 0x0. The:
    SMcputype
    1281
is added to Smbios.plist and is in the extra folder.
What is sill wrong here? can you advice me?

    Thanx

  39. Mac-g says:

  41. Tom Pouce says:

Thanks rampagedev 🙂 Maverick successfully installed on GA-X79-UP4, 4930k. What a pity that I need to use NullCPU with this board, however it’s a recommended MB from tonymacx86 !
Has this PM gigabyte bug always been present on all X79 MB ?
I think I will switch to Asus X79 Deluxe. Is this motherboard MSR E2 unlocked ? Can we have native power mangement with this MB ?

  42. Tom Pouce says:

I was thinking Asus boards were msr e2 locked. So, it’s a good news. I will switch from Gigabyte to Asus 🙂

Hey rampagedev. I was trying to create a hackintosh using the UNIBEAST method. I have a 4820k and a Ga up4 x79. I entered cpus=1 as well as npci=0x2000 and started to get to the installer screen. The problem is that the pc ran excruciatingly slow and the curser lagged. Any Solutions?

  44. Daniel says:

I’ve used the MYHACK method following the instructions. Every time I got to the installer my monitor would lose signal indefinitely. I tried every code I could think of to no avail. So I decided to try the UNIBEAST method. Is there some incompatibility between my board and the latest version of OSX?

You need a Xeon CPU to have the SAS ports on a C606 Chipset to work.

  48. Is it safe to update my BIOS or the DSDT (SSDT) are bios version specific?

  49. tvanpeer says:

    Hi Rampagedev,

    Here’s my setup:

    GA-X79-UD3
    i7 4930k
    Gigabyte GT610
OWC Mercury Accelsior_E2 PCIe SSD (boot)
    Crucial MX100 + 2 Seagate Barracuda ST3000DM001 in a Fusion drive (data)

I managed to install 10.9.4 using Myhack using your guides but I ran into a couple of issues: 1) 1Password doesn’t work, which is a known issue with Mavericks, and 2) a lot of processes die after sleep. In spite of those issues, I made a donation 😉

So I decided to install 10.8.5, the version I also have on my 2008 Mac Pro. However when I boot (-v cpus=1 npci=0x2000) the screen turns black after the long list of loaded kexts. If I leave out the “-v”, I get the grey apple screen, but no rotating wheel.

Any suggestions on how to get this further?

    • rampagedev says:

Unsupported with your CPU with the stock kernel.

      • tvanpeer says:

Ah, I see. I’d rather put effort in getting 10.9 working properly than finding out how to patch a kernel for 10.8. So 10.8.5 is a no-go then with this CPU.

Any idea why processes in 10.9.4 keep dying after I wake my system from sleep? It’s all kind of processes: ubd, different helper processes, SMART-reporter, you name it. And every time it’s different processes that refuse to come back.

      • rampagedev says:

        I dont support sleep so..

      • tvanpeer says:

Well, both problems went away when I did a clean install of 1Password over a fresh 10.9.4 install and did NOT use the Migration Assistant to copy all my applications (I had over 200 apps in my Applications folder, so I thought I had a good excuse to use the migration assistant). So after almost 15 years of upgrading, I finally have to do a reinstall of most of my applications. I hope I can find all the licenses.

Leaves me with one issue: audio. I installed the audio device per your guide, 2 line outs show up, but which ever one I select, no sound. How can I check this was properly installed?

      • tvanpeer says:

        Hi rampagedev,

Finally for everything to work. I tried an Asus X79 Deluxe for a short while, but that board had an issue with one of the memory channels and the same sleep issues as the Gigabyte board. So I swapped my Gigabyte back, updated the BIOS to F20 (apparently Windows users have similar sleep issues with boot cycles and everything and there this solution was mentioned) and now sleep seems to work. Both a forced sleep from the Apple menu and an automatic ‘Energy Saver’ sleep after a fixed period seem to give no problems. The system also came back after an overnight sleep of eight hours.

When swapping back the boards, I did not reinstall the boot disk, but I put the SSDT.aml for the Gigabyte from the X79 dmg back into /Extra, reinstalled the native AppleHDA.kext from the MyHack USB stick with Kext Helper and then reran the alc898-94 command. All channels show up in the Sound preference, but I get no sound. Did I miss something here?

      • rampagedev says:

You have ALC1150 on the Deluxe.

  50. Joel says:

    Hi,

I’m trying to build the Xeon 2.8 10 core with GA-X79-UP4 rev1.1, does this installer work with this proposed build? Also, have some users had kernel panics on the machines used to run myhack (for another hackintosh system drive)? Thank you

    • rampagedev says:

Board won’t work with that CPU under mac. Buy the Asus x79 Deluxe. The gigabyte boards are worthless in the end due to there horrid BIOS which issues include not being able to support Power management under Mac OS X among other issues. Sorry you bought the wrong board.
